Pioneer pupils in ‘Owl Enrichment’ this term worked together to develop an artistic proposal in support of North London Hospice, a local cancer charity working with terminal patients and their families. The hospice provided a beautiful, white, fibreglass owl and invited our students to paint it in any way they liked. The group's ideas were bold, confronting the challenging nature of the hospice's work directly with humour and energy. Their initial drawings included many notable features such as an Ark Pioneer school uniform, glowing robotic eyes, an ostentatious 'doomsday' timepiece, and the ghosts of many small field mice. Rather than exclude any individual contributions, the group decided to throw them all together into one very ambitious design. The resulting piece of work will be displayed as part of a sculpture trail.
