We were thrilled to start off our week with a visit from fabulous storyteller, Emily Grazebrook. Emily led a fantasy themed creative writing session for selected year 8s and 9s, focusing especially on structure and imagery. The students were enthralled by Emily's passion, and thoroughly enjoyed discussing and writing their own stories. Angel in year 8 said "It was really great - Emily led a fun session. I hope to experience something like this again", whilst Aaron in year 9 said "I thought it was very cool because I don't usually get to do much story writing". All new year 7 students have been inducted into the library, and our lunchtime book clubs for years 7, 8 and 9 are all up and running. We are starting off our year by reading Pirate Academy, The Final Year, and The Wizard of Earthsea. I look forward to much discussion and idea sharing over the coming weeks.
