We were privileged to welcome British Triple Paralympian Kylie Grimes to present a careers talk to our pupils last Thursday.
Kylie spoke to pupils all about her journey to professional sports. She talked frankly about getting through adversity, following her life-changing spinal injury in 2006.
Kylie emphasised spoke about the importance of teamwork when competing in the Paralympic games wheelchair rugby (or ‘murder ball’ as it is also known). Having been part of the British team who placed 5th in 2012 Paralympics, Kylie entered as an individual athlete in 2016 competing in athletics. However, in the 2020 Paralympics, Kylie returned to wheelchair rugby. The team’s impressive performance saw them take gold, contributing to the Team GB winning the overall Tokyo Paralympics. Kylie shared the privilege of this experience, inspiring pupils and staff alike.
We look forward to welcoming Kylie back in person in the coming term!
