Ark Pioneer’s young talent took to the stage last Wednesday for a fantastic evening of music and song.
With performances from our Concert Band, Strings Ensembles and two Rock Bands our musicians really did themselves proud. Congratulations to soloists who started the show on piano, to Gavin, an Ark Music Scholarship student who performed ‘Caprice No. 20’ by Paganini and Naomi, also an Ark Music Scholarship student who performed ‘Talking to the Moon’ by Bruno Mars.
The choir delighted us with three diverse numbers including the very moving ‘Your Song’ by Elton John.
It was the finale that stole the show, with all musicians and the choir coming together for a rousing version of Toto’s ‘Africa’. We were especially impressed with the many parents, family members and our staff who didn’t need to refer to the chorus words when joining in!
Enormous thanks to Ms Barnes (Head of Music), Mr Medland (Music teacher) who leads the concert band, our amazing peripatetic teachers Ms Biss - who leads the strings ensemble and Mr Rice - who leads the rock bands. We also appreciate all the other teaching and support staff who supported with organising the evening and of course, those who joined in playing with pupils.
Finally, thank you to the wonderful parent volunteers who made and served refreshments on the evening. A total of £300 was raised for the school minibus fund!
