On Thursday the 10th October, Year 11 artists ventured into Central London to investigate sculpture of the wearable variety. The trip is an annual occurrence designed to support the coursework element of the Art GCSE. Their first stop was The Wallace Collection on Manchester Square, where after a sketching session inspired by portraits from Rembrandt, Titian, Boucher and Velasquez, students made their way down into the armouries to draw and photograph the astounding collection of rare armour and ornate weaponry on display there. After lunch the group headed over to Trafalgar Square where they were treated to some time exploring the nation's most treasured portraits on display at The National Portrait Gallery. A fantastic day was had by all and the quality of the work produced was the best yet.
