After months of planning and preparation the Art department hosted its inaugural whole school Art Exhibition last week on Thursday the 26th of June.

The show featured work made by all age groups and from throughout the school year. For one night only, the canteen became a forum for celebrating creativity and acknowledging the hard work and dedication required to be creative.

Although the exhibition featured lots of careful displays, the Art department also made playful use of school furniture including lunch tables and badminton nets.

Students were also on site taking part in activities including a live planting workshop which brought the results of Mr Critchley's ceramic enrichment to life.

Parents and teachers enjoyed servings of wine and cheese as they discussed the work. A fragrant display of Year 7 soap carvings inspired by ancient Cycladic figurines intrigued the History department.

Elsewhere an English teacher stood, transfixed by the ethereal smoke in a Year 11 collage. Visitors were greeted upon arrival with an elegantly hand-written text, crafted by Mr Scammell.

Overall, the evening was a success, setting the bar high for years to come and leaving everyone involved with a feeling of having achieved something special.
