Monday 25th March Pillar Day saw pupils in years 7, 8, 9 & 10 off timetable to explore key aspects of our Personal Development curriculum.
Year 10 delved into learning key First Aid skills, working with the St John’s Ambulance team.
Year 7 were introduced to the cognitive science behind learning in sessions focussed on ‘Learning how to learn’. Through the afternoon, pupils explored how the brain works and learnt about the best techniques for committing new knowledge and skills to long term memory.
Year 9 pupils heard from lawyers working for the Schools Consent Project as part of our RSE programme. The lawyer-led workshops explored the legal definition of consent, the age of consent, key sexual offences, online offences & how to check for and communicate consent.
Finally, year 8 had a fantastic afternoon at their First Give Social Action project final. First Give is a charity that works with partner schools to inspire young people to make a positive change in society. Last year, we were featured as a case study for the group on their website which you can see here.
Thanks to all staff and external partners who supported this important day!
