GROW (wearegrow.org) are providing some of our Ark Pioneer pupils a fun, active and practical mushroom growing course – taking place at Totteridge Academy. So far the pupils have learnt about the mushroom life cycle; harvested fresh mushrooms; taken spore prints from them to understand spore release and grown some mycelium on cardboard and straw. Over the next two sessions they will be setting up some mushrooms to grow on toilet rolls so that they can take them home as well as harvesting and cooking up some Oyster mushrooms grown in the classroom.
