On Tuesday we were delighted to host another careers speaker as part of our pillar day welcoming Diane Swanton, who works as a Psychodynamic Counsellor.
Diane shared what counselling is and the different types of therapy that exist to support people. Diane works in individual one-to-one therapy and shared what her typical work week looks like, and the aspects she particularly enjoys and motivates her.
Diane talked through both the routes to qualifying as a counsellor and the ways in which people interested in this career can take on volunteering and work experience to support their application. She also outlined the linked careers including psychiatry, psychologists and other approaches to therapy that pupils may be interested in.
We know pupils really enjoyed hearing about this career path – thank you for giving up your time Diane!
