As part of the trip, pupils were immersed in local traditions. They visited Boulangerie Le Fournil for a traditional bread-making demonstration and tasting. Those with a sweet tooth enjoyed the visit to P&J Chocolate Factory, taking part in a chocolate-making workshop and & also loved the biscuit-making demonstration as part of the tour. We were impressed with the pupils' understanding of the demonstrations in French. Pupils explored a local snail farm and enjoyed an aquarium visit at the Nausicaa Sea Life Centre. In Boulogne, pupils walked around the Old Town and explored the local town of Le Touquet, visiting the beautiful beach on the coast. We were proud to see their learning in practice when pupils ordered sweets, cheese and baked goods in French!
Mirhan, in Year 8, said, "It was amazing! I enjoyed the bakery because they spoke about how it was passed down the generations, which was really interesting to listen to."
Jack, in Year 7, said - "First of all, it was very exciting to go to a new country, and the teachers were really nice on the trip. The activities we did were really fun, and also I liked the free time when we relaxed with our friends - playing outside the villas."
Ms Chapman, French Teacher, said - "I was so proud of the enthusiasm with which our pupils spoke French and took part in new experiences. It's an invaluable cultural experience for our pupils, and it was a joy to watch them grow in independence".
