Y11 Art pupils embarked on a full day of adventure and creativity on Friday the 22nd September, exploring two fascinating art-filled locations in a matter of hours.

The morning began with a portrait drawing session lead by a team of artists at The Wallace Collection in Manchester Square. Students sketched from iconic works by Rubens, Velasquez, Rembrandt and Titian before venturing into the armouries to marvel at a truly spectacular collection of ornate armour.

After a quick lunch pupils hot-footed it across Soho to Trafalgar Square and the newly refurbished National Portrait Gallery. Once inside the group divided their time between a stunning exhibition of 1930s colour photography by Yevonde, and the permanent collection which features some of the nation's most treasured figurative works.

Both experiences will be an asset to the group as their Wearable Sculpture project takes shape and together we approach their final mock exam.
