The Royal Academy in London has run an annual exhibition of the public's work since 1769. It is a famous and prestigious event in the Art calendar. Celebrities and famous artists attend the opening. More recently the RA has set up a contest aimed specifically at school-age artists, called the 'Young Artist's Summer Show'. Each year 260 winners will be invited to exhibit in the RA's central London gallery. 350 more will be selected for display on the RA website.
What's brilliant is that this is a open competition with no rules or restrictions in terms of theme, media or scale.
The Art Department at Ark Pioneer is accepting entries for the YASS now and we want pupils to enter, and win! The official deadline for entries this year is March 27th, however for Ark Pioneer pupils we are setting an earlier internal deadline. This will allow us to help refine pupil's entries and document everything in time to meet the final deadline.
Pupils are to give their artwork directly to their Art teacher before Wednesday the 13th of March.
Remember - this is a completely open competition with no rules or restrictions in terms of theme, media or scale.
