Setting up camp at our first DofE Expedition

On Friday the 21st April, 35 pupils headed off to Amersham to complete their training expedition. We began the trip by setting up tents and cooking a delicious pasta. We ended the Friday by toasting marshmallow on the fire the students had collected wood for.

On Saturday we packed up camp, picked up the heavy bags and went on our way. It was a long walk and naturally a few groups took a few wrong turns but with a bit of determination and map skills they found their way back on track. The students arrived back at school, slightly sore and achy, and headed home. A successful training expedition.

The Qualifying – 26th/27th May

It was an early start on Friday with the coaches leaving at 7:30am! Everyone was rearing to go and we arrived at the campsite in good time. They set off promptly and began the 9.5mile walk through Potters Bar. It was great to see true teamwork and problem solving from the moment they set off. The groups finished in good time and set up camp as soon as they arrived at the campsite. Although slightly uncomfortable and tired, the pupils persevered, cooked their meals, and then enjoyed toasted marshmallows by the warm fire.

The next day was another early start and, but the sun was shining, and they cooked their breakfast, packed their tents up and headed off. Another fantastic effort from all pupils on the second day of walking. Their map skills had improved and they were determined to finish in good time. Another fantastic effort from all!

We are very proud of all our pupils who completed their DofE Bronze Expedition. They perfectly encapsulated our core values of modelling determination, being kind and aiming high! Well done all!
