'Sing into Spring' Success!

Tuesday 06 April 2021

We were thrilled to tune into the Awards ceremony for the Ark Sing into Spring competition Wednesday 31st March. The Ark network music team were joined by a panel of music industry judges for the network’s first ever Sing Into Spring vocal competition.

We were proud to hear our group compilation ‘Happy’ being played for everyone who tuned in.

Special congratulations go to two of our pupils, Naomi in Y7 Hawking & Leana in 8 Lawrence, both of whom were featured in the final.

Naomi was shortlisted as singer/songwriter for her song ‘It Hurts’.

Guest judges sang her praises, having listened to her performance:

‘Your voice sounded fantastic… for a person of your age – you really should continue on this path’

‘I was blown away’

‘The combination of Naomi’s vocals and the piano, so beautifully played and your lyrics really pulled on my heart strings – I had quite an emotional response. I thought it was an extremely professional and polished performance.’

Leana’s audio submission was featured as a Secondary Vocalist submission, singing ‘Driver’s Licence’.

Judges’ comments to Leana included:

‘I loved how you made it your own. The performance had your own style about it.’

‘Your vocal flies as it goes into the chorus’

‘Dynamically well-place, well-judged’

‘I really like the quality of your voice’

Congratulations to both girls and everyone who participated in our group performance ‘Happy’ and indeed all competitors in the Sing into Spring competition.
