Monday 28 June 2021
Last week we were delighted to welcome Rosh Singh as our Careers speaker for the summer term.
Rosh is the MD of UNIT9, a production company voted ‘Tech company of the year 2021 and 2020’. They are a specialized team of innovation architects, product designers, software engineers, gaming experts, creatives, art directors, designers, producers and film directors.
Rosh spoke to the pupils the different roles within his company and how values and key character traits, like being a good communicator as some of the most employable attributes. Central to Rosh’s message was that you don’t always need to go to University to have a successful career, apprenticeships and building a portfolio of creative work can open a lot of doors.
Our pupils found the careers talk fascinating and had many questions for Rosh around the big brands his company have worked with including Bentley and TicTok.
Teo in 8Moore commented “It was so interesting, I wish Rosh was here in person, so I could ask him more about working with PSG and coding”. Adeel in 8Winfrey said “Making online games and apps is what most young people want to do for a career, Rosh talking about how to make that a reality was exciting”.
Mr McCarville also said “ It was really powerful for our pupils to hear about how creative careers link to the world of technology we live in today, science and maths can bring you down a path of coding and developing but we need creative, artistic minds just as much to develop technology ”
