Congratulations to our library volunteers who won 100 new books from Penguin’s Lit in Colour competition.

Wednesday 24 November 2021

Two of our pupil librarians in year 8 successfully won 100 brand new books. Denisa and Poppy submitted a high-quality application for the Penguin Lit in Colour Giveaway. The pupils, supported by Mrs Jennings, outlined why our school library needed these books to make our collection much more exciting and diverse for our pupils. The library leader’s application was successful and the new books, worth over £1000, are now available in the library to enjoy.

Pupils can discover acclaimed authors such as Barack Obama, Manjeet Mann, George the Poet, Bernardine Evaristo and Benjamin Zephaniah. Year 9s were the first pupils to explore the new collection in the library. Siham commented that “These are amazing! I can’t wait to read this one”

The English department hopes that the gift of these books will inspire our brilliant pupils to dream big and realise their full potential.

Congratulations to the Library Leaders for making our library such an inclusive and inspiring place to visit!
